thanks and i belive it will make him very happy!
if you dont mind could you possibly send me a pattern or tutorial on how to do that?
You'll need basic crochet knowledge to understand this totorial. You can find everything you need to know on youtube basically.
I used 3 ply natural jute thread (about $2 for 400 feet at hobby lobby) and i forget what size crochet hook I used. just get one thats just big enough to hold the thread.
your going to want to make each crochet really tight that way the beads dont fall out. If you mess up you can use nylon leg stockings to hold the beads inside the hacky sack.
1. chain 3.
2. then 8 single crochet in the second chain.
so now you should have a circle kinda thingy.
3. on the second row you'll do a single crochet then a double
and repeat this till you've done 12 crochet's total.
4. repeat the second row on row 3 with a crochet count of 18
5. on row 4 your gonna do two single crochet and then a
double crochet. repeat till you've done a total of 24
crochet.
6. repeat row 4 on row 5 till you've done a total of 32
crochet.
7. now do 7 rows of single crochet with each row having 32
crochets total
8. now the hard part. you have to do steps 3 through 5 in
reverse. your going to be doing all single crochet, but in
place of doing doubles, you going to be pulling two loops
together instead.
So for example, for the first 3 crochet, your going to be
doing a single crochet in the first loop and another on
the second loop. now where the double was, your going to
be going through the third loop, and then the forth loop
before completing your crochet.
9. before row 14 your going to want to fill the hacky sack
3/4 full with plasic pellets. Then its just a matter of
finishing up the rows.
10. after row 16 which should've been 8 crochet, cut the
string with around an inch or two left over. tie by
pulling the string through the last loop. pull the hole
together with the left over string and then tuck the
string into the ball.
so your crochet count for each row is going to be
chain 3
row 1 = 8 crochet
row 2 = 12 crochet
row 3 = 18 crochet
row 4 = 24 crochet
row 5 through 12 = 32 crochet each
row 13 = 24 crochet
row 14 = 18 crochet
row 15 = 12 crochet
row 16 = 8 crochet
If you need more help just ask. and you can also search youtube. thats where i learned how to make this one. just search "crochet ball".
